We’re just days away from the kickoff of Dope Ent.’s Rolling Loud, a three-day Hip-Hop festival held in Miami. Some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, A$AP Rocky, 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert and more, are all scheduled to perform. Of the 40 plus artists of the festival’s line up, here is the list of artist I look forward to seeing on stage.
Lil Uzi Vert
Set Time: Sunday May 7, 2017 8:00 pm
Last year Uzi performed on the first night of the festival and set the tone for the rest of the weekend. During Uzi’s performance, the fans were so turnt that the barricade separating the pit from general admission broke. After being featured on the Migos smash hit “Bad & Boujee” along with the success of his latest single “XO Tour Lif3”, Uzi’s set is guaranteed to be just as lit as last years.

21 Savage is probably my favorite of the new rappers. It took a Greek parody of his song “No Heart” for him to reach this status, but nonetheless he’s there. His collaborative project Savage Mode with Metro Boomin has become my go to project whenever I play the MyCareer mode on NBA 2K (PSN: Jus_10Credible). This time last year I had no clue who 21 Savage was and now he’s part of my day-to-day music rotation.

Its YG 4 HUNNIIDDDDDDD!!!!!!!! YG is one of today’s most underrated artists. I remember buying his debut album My Krazy Life and playing it everyday for months. Hell, I think the CD is still in my car’s CD player. Whenever I listen to YG I’m always reminded of CJ from Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, the greatest game ever by the way. As a matter of fact, YG just maybe the real life CJ. HENNYway back to the point. I’m hyped to see 40,000 people all scream “Fuck Donald Trump!” when YG performs the controversial song. That’s gonna be a movie.

Closing out the first night of Rolling Loud is Lil Wayne. Hopefully Birdman doesn’t run up with his Breakfast Club goons and try to block Wayne from performing LOL. But seriously, for about seven years (2005-2012) NOBODY could touch Wayne on the mic. Jit was dropping mixtape after mixtape after mixtape. Plus you had the birth of the Carter album series. And everything was DOPE. Every mixtape, album, hook, verse, feature, ad lib, you name it, was all flames. Lil Wayne is definitely one of the GOATs and I’m glad I was able to witness his rise to the top. #FreeWeezy

Sunday’s headlining act belongs to Houston’s own Travis Scott. Scott’s last album Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight was one of my favorite albums last year. I’ve seen footage from some of Travis’ shows before and there’s no word to describe the energy and electricity in the building. Just the other day someone jumped from the second floor balcony onto the general admission section on one of Scott’s tour stops. Talk about wild. With Travis constantly working with other artist I’m sure there will be several special appearances during his set.

2017 is setting up to be the year of Kung Fu Kenny. Kendrick’s critically acclaimed sophomore album To Pimp A Butterfly won the Compton rapper five Grammys and gave the Black Lives Matter movement a theme song with his single “Alright”. Arguably the best rapper out today, Kendrick’s fourth studio album Damn is killing it atop the charts and even outsold Drake’s More Life by nearly 100,000 units. Coming off an incredible performance at Coachella, Kendrick will be looking to do the same at Rolling Loud before he kicks of his own tour this summer.
This years Rolling Loud is shaping up to not only top the previous years, but to cement itself in music as the best festival on the planet.
